Michael Falzon's outburst during a Labour Party activity in the presence of Labour Leader Alfred Sant brought back memories of 1998 when Labour's term in office was cut short due to infighting within the party.
The deputy leader of the MLP lambasted leaks from within his party and, without mentioning names, pin-pointed people in the MLP whom he claimed had orchestrated a frame-up. He alleged that there were people within his party who repeatedly tried to backstab him. With less than a year to go to the polls Dr Falzon's outburst is worrying indeed.
Not all is well within the labour party, and with the deputy leader washing the dirty linen in public it is even more worrying.
The situation is serious and people wonder how on earth Labour can hope to govern this country and give the people peace of mind when it is evidently deeply divided.
