Ban on morning-after pill welcomed

The Gift of Life foundation has welcomed the decision to turn down an application for the importation of the morning-after pill, spokesman Paul Vincenti said yesterday.

Apart from acting as a contraceptive, the morning-after-pill may also prevent implantation of the fertilised ovum, thus having an abortive effect, Mr Vincenti said.

The application for the importation of the morning-after pill was turned down following advice from the Bioethics Committee.
