The Auditor General and the National Audit Office will hold a conference at the Corinthia San Gorg Hotel, St Julians on Friday to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the setting up of the National Audit Office in 1997.

The conference will bring together leaders of the Maltese public administration to review the contribution made by public sector auditing and to explore ways of enhancing that contribution in the near future.

Local speakers will include President Emeritus Ugo Mifsud Bonnici, Charles Mangion, MP, chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, Godwin Grima, Principal Permanent Secretary and head of the public service, and Joseph Galea, Auditor General.

Hubert Weber, president of the European Court of Auditors and Sir John Bourn, Comptroller and Auditor General of the UK National Audit Office, have also been invited to address the conference by relating the experiences in state auditing of their respective institutions.

Edward Warrington, director, Institute of Public Administration and Management from the University, Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy will act as the moderator of the conference.
