The Malta University Services (mus) is organising five new courses this month.
The first is a 30-hour programme staring tomorrow on Information Systems Control, Security and Audit. The course is aimed at auditors of information systems, accountants and business executives using computerised information systems, and IT practitioners involved in the development of Business Information Systems.
It will focus on the problems of keeping IT systems secure from error or abuse, whether internal or external, and will also examine how controls can be designed, within the systems and around them, to achieve their optimum security and integrity. The course is tutored by George Cassola. Lectures will be held every Monday and Wednesday.
The second is on Internal QMS Audit. The objective of this two-day course is to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to carry out internal audits of their organisations' quality management system to ISO 9001.
This IRCA-registered course ensures that the internal audit process is a value adding activity that not only evaluates the performance and effectiveness of the QMS, but also identifies where improvements can be made.
The third on Corporate Social Responsibility starts on Wednesday. The objective is to provide an overview of CSR and introduce some of the CSR-related national and international guidelines and standards, discuss their relevance to the organisations and the potential impact on their suppliers and sub-contractors.
It is aimed at quality managers, environmental managers and all those individuals within organisations who are starting to get involved in CSR or are interested in developing their knowledge of CSR to investigate their relevance and application of this subject to their organisations.
Another two-day course is on Process Design and Performance. This is aimed at helping delegates understand the basics of process design and analysis and how to develop a systematic approach to performance improvement as applied to all aspects of business processes.
The course is essential for directors, managers, process owners, quality practitioners and consultants committed to improving business processes.
MUS is also launching a new 18-hour intensive programme on "The Competent Manager". The aim of this course is the role of managers covering such fields like Change Management, HRM, Marketing, and Financial and Operations Management. The team of tutors, led by Dr Silvio De Bono, includes Charles J. Falzon, Stefan Schembri and Ivan Grixti.
More information is available by calling 2134-3572 or by e-mail: charles.j.falzon@mus.com.mt and fiona.frendo@mus.com.mt.
