Call for applications for AFM officer cadets

The Armed Forces of Malta has issued a call for applications for the enlistment of officer-cadets.

Applicants must be aged between 18 and 23 by the closing date for applications (May 18), or 25 in the case of candidates in possession of a University degree, or if already serving in the AFM.

Applicants must be in possession of recognised passes in six subjects at O-level of the SEC General Certificate of Education or recognised equivalent (must include Maltese, English Language, Mathematics and either Physics or Chemistry), and recognised passes in two subjects at A-level in the Matriculation General Certificate of Education or recognised equivalent.

Alternatively, they may have successfully completed the course leading to Certification as an Officer-in-Charge of a Navigational Watch or the course leading to Certification as an Officer-in-Charge of an Engineering Watch at the MCAST Maritime Institute.

All relative forms and enclosed certificate documents must be handed in personally between tomorrow and Friday at the Department of Examinations, Floriana, or at the Examinations Centre, Victoria, Gozo, between 8 a.m. and noon and 1.30 and 4 p.m.

Applicants must be Maltese citizens, be medically fit for duty to Regular Force Standards (which includes a minimum height requirement of 1.57 metres for males and 1.52 metres for females and an acceptable body weight in proportion to height), and of good moral character (a Police Certificate of Conduct, Form "A", issued within six months prior to the closing date should be provided).
