The Victoria hotel is this year celebrating its 10th anniversary. In ten years The Victoria, in the heart of Sliema, has established itself as a superior four-star boutique hotel full of charm - unique elements which it blends effectively with a successful business and conference centre.
Since opening its doors to its first guests on March 26, 1997, The Victoria has continuously renovated its administrative structure and overall environment to cater for its guests' needs and requirements.
In 2005 it completed a Lm650,000 extensive refurbishment project, which included the installation of a five-star standard state-of-the-art sprinkler system and the introduction of the Wi-Fi system in all rooms and public spaces, as well as ADSL Internet connection.
The refurbishment also coincided with the restoration of Palazzo Capua. When finalised, this magnificent building was integrated into The Victoria's facilities, offering an exclusive combination of a functional and distinctive location to the business traveller.
This year sees yet another addition to AX Group's Sliema investment with the new five-star The Palace, which will open this summer, under the management of general manager Claire Xuereb.
In the past ten years The Victoria has received innumerable accolades, including the Hospitality Assured accreditation for its standard of service and business excellence in hospitality. This standard is supported by the British Hospitality Association and endorsed by the British Quality Foundation and the Quality Scotland Foundation.
To celebrate this memorable anniversary, the hotel's administration recently held a reception for guests and staff. Commenting on the event Ms Xuereb said The Victoria was doing very well and established itself successfully in the conference and incentive niche.
"We have really moved ahead and we're proud to enjoy an excellent reputation. The opening of Palazzo Capua further added to its prestige as an ideal location and venue in the hospitality and tourism sector."
