The European Institute of Education organised a visit last month for its latest intake of MBA, Diploma in Management and BA in Business Administration students of the European University to General Soft Drinks (GSD) Co. Ltd in Qormi.

"Site visits serve to acquaint students with the factual atmosphere of contemporary organisations to fully comprehend the industry operating procedures and gather first-hand information," an EIE spokesman said in a statement last week.

Students were welcomed at GSD by HR manager Stephen Bonnici. He presented students with a PowerPoint presentation of the company, illustrating the organisation structure through organigrams and gave a detailed explanation of its development throughout the years.

The vast range of products offered by GSD were also outlined and explained so that the students could grasp the rationale behind all the processes that the beverages undergo.

Mr Bonnici noted that in today's highly competitive market, innovation is vital for survival in the long run. At the end of the presentation adequate time was allotted for students to put forward questions and clarify the information that was presented in during the visit.

The EIE believes in a holistic approach to education. In addition to engaging lecturers who are practical experts in their field, the institute offers students industrial visits to prominent, successful local companies.

The institute, based in Ta' Xbiex, is licensed by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Employment as a tertiary level institution of the European University External Programmes and University of Leicester School of Management.

European University exams are organised at the Examinations Department of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Employment.
