ANR congratulates Sarkozy

Alleanza Nazzjonali Repubblikana has congratulated Nicolas Sarkozy for his "well-earned victory" in the French presidential election.

It said his election gives hope to all European conservatives that believe in the values of work, authority, merit and respect for the nation, as well as those individual rights and responsibilities that still resonate strongly with the vast majority of people "despite the decades of corrosive liberalism".

The ANR said it noted with "disdain" the cool reaction by Malta's political establishment to Mr Sarkozy's victory which contrasted sharply with the warm messages of congratulations sent to Romano Prodi and his left-wing coalition on winning the Italian election last year.
