Aercomms' recent rise to the top was brought to an abrupt halt in week 16 of the Middlesea League as rivals Fina First hammered them 8-0, adding insult to injury by snatching top spot in the process.
There was also an 8-0 win for Sammy's Embroideries over Redwell Heating, but it could be a case of too little, too late for the bottom side.
PharmaVet also took all eight from their clash with Royal Shock.
In the other matches, FireBalls failed to ease their relegation worries with a 2-6 loss to Union Capital Group, and Ramis went down by the same margin to HSBC.
Prior to the second Fina-Aercomms clash of the season, defending champions Fina trailed leaders Aercomms by just two points in the classification, so victory was the only thing on both teams' minds.
Game one was a cagey affair, the edge eventually going to Fina 778-763. Game two was more clearcut, Fina winning it 776-726.
Aercomms' frustration was showing during the third set as Fina completed their hat-trick with a good 813-773 finale to open up a six-point lead in the standings.
