Aloysians Veneziani Croissant are the winners of the 2006/07 women's national league after a convincing victory over nearest rivals La Salle Vitality to retain the title for a second year.

Led by the inspirational Brenda Camilleri, scorer of 11 goals, Aloysians were a cut above their opponents who offered little resistance in such a decisive match.

The first half did not offer much as Aloysians took the lead from the early stages with La Salle unable to reduce the gap.

After the interval, La Salle threw caution to the wind as they adopted more aggressive tactics to get back in contention.

On 16 minutes, La Salle coach Andrew Said called a time-out and the break seemed to have worked wonders as his players cut the gap to just five goals.

But Milos Stanislajevic, the Aloysians mentor, soon changed strategy for his side to regain the initiative and seal a decisive win that handed them the league title.

Referees: T. Degiorgio and S. Desira.
