The cost of the first phase of restoration being carried out on St Barbara Bastion, in Valletta, amounts to about Lm100,000, mainly to cover the wages of workers assigned to do the work over a number of months, Resources Minister Ninu Zammit said yesterday while visiting the works.

The work is being carried out in two phases. The current phase covers restoration on a stretch of 100 metres of the bastion. This is scheduled to be finished by June.

The second phase, which covers the restoration of another stretch, will start immediately and should be finished within another eight months.
