I would like to record how much I enjoyed the Gaulitana Festival of Music which was held in Gozo from April 9 to 22, organised by artistic director Colin Attard.

It was absolutely delightful to arrive on the island for a holiday and find such an excellent festival, with a variety of music in progress. I knew that Malta and especially Gozo had a history of encouraging a musical culture, but it was so nice to find a festival in progress featuring such a varied programme of opera, light classical and modern song, violin and piano recitals and of course the Gaulitanus choir. There was even a Russian choir!

I hope that there will be further festivals, which perhaps could be advertised more widely.
