Spanish Foreign Minster Miguel Angel Moratinos and Maltese Foreign Minister Michael Frendo discussed bilateral relations and the so-called Malta Initiative when the Spanish Foreign Minister called at the Malta Foreign Ministry.

The Malta Initiative is meant to start a structured dialogue with the moderate Arab countries through the Arab League. The initiative aims to promote discussion on important issues such as climate change, energy security and affordability and other issues of interest to both Europe and the moderate Arab countries. Mr Moratinos said relations between the two countries are at a very good level and good progress was being registered in the commercial sector.

He endorsed the Malta Initiative and pledged his support to ensure it is taken forward.
