Collectibles on four wheels were on display at Mellieha square yesterday in the third exhibition of old and not so old vehicles to be held by the locality's local council.

Mayor John Buttigieg said the popular event had drawn 90 participants, all from Mellieha. The event is coordinated every year by the Association of Collectible Cars and Vehicles.

The event drew a surprisingly varied array of cars including examples going back to early models such as a 1931 Ford Model A and an Austin 7 of 1934, a 1916 motorised water pump, and a 1932 Chevy. There were several examples of models popular in Malta in the 1950s and 1960s including several Escort and Consul makes.

Trucks, including a 1940 Dodge, and several large American vehicles featuring elaborate artwork also drew many admirers..

Also on show were a number of motorcycles, including a Matchless dating back to 1939.
