Jonathan Dalli, former general secretary of the National Youth Council (KNZ), has been elected member of the European Union Affairs Commission of the European Youth Forum, which is based in Brussels.

He gained the highest number of votes among 13 candidates.

The Youth Forum, which includes Malta's youth council, is the largest youth organisation in Europe, representing over 90 national youth councils and international non-governmental youth organisations.

The election was held during the Youth Forum's Council of Members, in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Mr Dalli said he was satisfied with the result both on a personal level and also for KNZ and for Malta. "This shows that the work of the Maltese is appreciated and recognised, and clearly presents value added, since I am now also an elected member in a permanent structure of the main European organisation which the EU institutions consult".

Mr Dalli is a former president of the University Commercial Students' Association, an executive member of the University Students' Council, and a former KNZ secretary general. He is a University of Malta graduate and works in marketing.
