Information meeting
On May 17 at 5.30 p.m. they will facilitate an information meeting at the FHRD for all those who are interested in knowing more about the FHRD's academic programmes in human resource management and development. Those attending will have the opportunity to meet the academics themselves, get all the details about the programmes of studies, the Centre and the University of Leicester, have the opportunity to meet graduates, ask questions and view the course materials.
Courses range from Certificate to Diploma to Masters and Doctorate level. There are four intakes a year - January, May, July and October. The next intake is due to start on May 7. There is also time to enrol in July before the course fees increase in October.
All those interested in attending the meeting or in making an application are to contact Daniela Gouder on 2138-1786 or dgouder@fhrd.org.
Louis Naudi Award
On May 18, CLMS and FHRD will host a presentation ceremony for 35 students who successfully finished their courses - 16 from the M.Sc. programme, 18 from the Diploma programme and one from the Certificate programme. The Minister of Education, Youth and Employment, Dr Louis Galea, will preside over the ceremony.
During this event, the FHRD is to launch the Louis Naudi Award. Louis Naudi was an M.Sc. graduate in Training and HRM from CLMS, an external marker with the same centre, an FHRD director and a very dedicated HR professional.
But Louis is mostly remembered for the man he was - hard-working, always ready to give a helping hand, always available with a positive outlook and a welcoming attitude.
Louis strongly believed in people. It was more than his work. It was a belief. To honour him, CLMS and the FHRD designed this award, which will go to the M.Sc. graduate invited to the annual FHRD presentation ceremony who would have attained a distinction in the dissertation and the highest overall average in the assignments. The awarded graduate, therefore, could be one of several intakes. Mrs Naudi will present the award.
On the weekend of May 19 and 20, the CLMS delegates will again be engaged in a number of tutorials for the current Masters students. Course members will have the opportunity to review fundamental themes covered in the course material, discuss issues and challenge ideas, address difficulties they may be encountering and make suggestions for improvement.
These teaching visits, which are organised twice a year, provide a further opportunity for students to meet and network, and so enhance the learning process. It also serves to motivate students in their academic progress. The next visit will be held in December.
