Following the launch of HSDPA some months ago, Vodafone Malta Ltd has now upgraded its 3G coverage to HSDPA (3.5G) to give customers four times the connection speeds of 3G.
3G and HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) services were initially available in St Julian's, Sliema, Gzira, Ta' Xbiex, Msida, Hamrun, Marsa, Floriana, Valletta. As of now, the services are also available in Attard, Balzan, Gharghur, Luqa, Mosta, Naxxar, Pietà, San Gwann and St Paul's Bay.
Vodafone customers can now benefit from faster download speeds and improved quality of sound and images made possible through its enhanced 3.5G services.
Among other features, customers can download full songs and large e-mail attachments in seconds. HSDPA services can be accessed from a mobile phone, PDA or laptop equipped with the Vodafone Mobile Connect Card.
"Vodafone Malta is continuing to lead the way with superior network performance and a customer experience that is unparalleled," Hatem Dowidar, Vodafone Malta CEO, said. "The positive feedback received from our customers confirms that the HSDPA-driven wireless performance has significantly improved their mobile working experience which resulted in notable productivity gains."
HSDPA delivers a faster mobile broadband experience to Vodafone customers with mobile transfer of data from the Internet and intranet at high speeds and greater capacity, meaning that more people in the same location at the same time can benefit from a superior experience.
It unlocks four times more capacity from the network to minimise the chances of data congestion. In addition, HSDPA offers improved access to Web-based content, so Vodafone customers are able to work faster and download larger documents, such as PowerPoint presentations and e-mail attachments, more quickly.
