If Pio Dalli (One-way Or Two?, April 25) is expecting anybody to give him a reasonable reply on the Swieqi roads chaos, he had better give up. I had written a letter to the editor on the very first day and in reply a couple tried to insult my intelligence by stating that I had never been out of Swieqi. This was simply because they did not understand my point.
I am all in favour of road improvements whether this requires one-way streets, sleeping police, no-parking zones... as long as they make sense. Since my letter a lot has happened; some newly put up signs were removed, freshly laid sleeping policeman replaced, road signs repainted...at whose cost? Obviously the residents of Swieqi.
The worst of it is that what was supposed to be a safer system has finished up creating at least two black spots. For example, one drives up Triq Is-Sidra and turns into Triq Is-Sirk (one way), keeping to the right (as indicated by the road signs) only to find a bus smack in one's face (as buses can drive through Triq Is-Sirk).
Need I say more?
