Tai Chi has been practised in China for the past 300 years. It is based on a Chinese philosophy promoting health, longevity and vitality. It consists of flowing movements and meditation and is claimed to help people improve their quality of life, mentally, physically and spiritually.
On the day, each time zone around the world begins practising Tai Chi at 10 a.m., so that for 24 hours there is a Tai Chi "wave" going around the world.
With the support from the China Cultural Centre in Valletta, the Malta Olympic Committee, the Sliema Local Council and Malta Judo Federation, the Valletta Tai Chi Society and Tai Chi lovers will present demonstrations and explain the health benefits of this practice.
