Former Olympic 100 metres champion Maurice Greene has pulled out of next month's IAAF Grand Prix meeting in Osaka, organisers said.

The 32-year-old American, who won gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, will miss the May 5 competition after failing to fully recover from dental surgery.

Former world record holder Greene was hoping to make his second appearance of the year after deciding to compete at next year's Beijing Olympics.
