St Julians will be one of the 19 locations in Europe to be visited by a new European Diversity Truck, which yesterday left the seat of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on its 18,000-kilometre European tour.
The European Diversity Truck is another initiative launched by the European Commission to promote equality and diversity on the occasion of the European Year for Equal Opportunities for All.
St Julians has been chosen as the Maltese location to be visited by the truck on June 16.
The giant 30-ton vehicle is designed to inform citizens of their rights under EU and national anti-discrimination legislation and will help in the European Union's drive to combat discrimination and promote diversity at the workplace. It includes a walking exhibition and provides reader friendly information to all visitors.
The EU anti-discrimination laws are among the most advanced in the world. Yet, only one third of citizens know their rights should they become victims of discrimination.
