An exhibition of new books for the Gozo libraries was inaugurated yesterday at the Gozo Public Library as part of the activities marking World Book Day.

A total of 600 new books are on display before being distributed among the chain of libraries that include the Gozo Public Library and the Gozo Lending Library, both in Victoria, the library at the Gozo General Hospital, and 11 other branch libraries in different villages.

Nearly 118,000 books were borrowed over the past year in Gozo and 135 children at primary level attended story-telling sessions. The Gozo Public Library, Gozo's main reference library, provided its services to about 3,000 people last year. The exhibition will be open up till May 26.

Two storytelling sessions will be held today for Year 4 students attending the Bishop's Conservatory School, in Victoria, and for Year 3 students from Rosa Magro Primary School, in Xewkija.

The book Sqaq l-Infern, the first book in the Tal-Fiddien'trilogy written by Simon Bartolo and Loranne Vella, will tomorrow be presented to an audience of Form 3 students from Ninu Cremona Lyceum Complex and Form 2 students from Bishop's Conservatory School.
