Recently my wife and I decided to spend a day out with our two sons at the Popeye fun park in Mellieha. Upon arriving I went straight to the kiosk to buy the tokens (11 tokens for the price of Lm2). So far so good. So excited were our children of seven and four that they had already started to queue for the rides.

To cut a long story short, the 11 tokens vanished in less than 11 minutes' riding time on dirty bumping cars, a rusty roller coaster, battery-operated Formula One cars with frequent stoppages, battery-operated vessels in a pool of smelly, dirty water and the latest attraction - the mini quad bikes.

When I asked for life vests for the water sport the answer was: "Take it or leave it". I asked for helmets on quad bikes, in line with the law and the answer from an arrogant attendant was: "They don't exist".

We then decided to go to the restaurant for a snack only to find that we had just entered a Jurassic flies and mosquitoes park, not to mention the dirty tables, chairs and floor.

On behalf of my family I would like to thank the management for the lovely 30 minutes we spent at the park. We will surely go again and perhaps bring some friends with us.
