My worst nightmare has been realised. Yet another small dog has been attacked and savaged in Swieqi. Yet again a German Shepherd, while being walked by his owner, has attacked a small dog.
Yet again the irresponsible owner has failed to muzzle her dog before she takes him out. She has got away with it at least once before, and presumably believes that she can do it again.
She seems oblivious to the very real pain and suffering she is causing to the victims of her dog's aggressive behaviour. I should make it clear that I am in no way blaming the dog, however aggressive he may be - the responsibility lies fairly and squarely on the dog's owner who once again has failed to control her dog.
The dog itself should be assessed by an individual from the canine police force where, hopefully, his aggression might be channelled into some use to the community. I extend my sympathy to the family of the dog who has been so cruelly savaged and urge them to report the incident to the police. Maybe, this time the police will make the correct charges and, maybe, this time the courts would be in a position to ensure that justice is served against the person responsible for these vile incidents.
In my opinion, this woman should be barred from ever keeping a dog or any other sentient creature as a pet. A hefty fine might go some way in making her understand that she alone is responsible for allowing her dog to attack and savage small dogs, that she alone is responsible for the pain and grief caused to the families concerned.
How many other victims must there be before this irresponsible dog owner is brought to justice?
