A lot has been said and written about the one-way system in Swieqi. Some are in favour; others are against. But it seems that the major bone of contention was Triq is-Sidra being made one- way, going up from Triq is-Swieqi to Triq il-Qasam, with the exception of the stretch between Triq il-Gabillot and Triq is-Sirk.

This 150-metre stretch continues to carry traffic both ways.

Definitely, if this decision was not the work of a genius, which then I have every reason to fail to understand, it was taken to accommodate somebody.

I would be very grateful if somebody from our local council or anybody from those who have been advocating the one-way system were to explain to us, the humble residents of Swieqi, why this short stretch has been made this way.
