I cannot but respond to the letter by ADT dated April 17. Can the ADT indicate which safety measures they have put in force to ensure the safe commuting of pedestrians and motorists at Tal-Fjuri? Unless they have installed an underground passage that I do not know of, access to Tal-Fjuri is still very dangerous. We have to inch our way past exposed dugouts while trying to avoid heavy machinery.

The situation is a far cry from the precautions and indications that have been installed at Manwel Dimech Bridge. Why the different treatment? Ironically, in St Paul's Bay one sees indications how to avoid Manwel Dimech Bridge but not how to proceed within the same locality.

ADT tries to excuse the fact by arguing that the area is a construction site. May I point out to them that first and foremost the area is a residential zone? We have a right and a need to use the only access without having to face risks every time we do so. Furthermore the fact that it is the only access point makes it even more important to ensure all the necessary safeguards are in place. The ADT should seriously do something as soon as possible before anyone gets hurt.

As things are proceeding we have to endure several more weeks if not months of this ordeal as amazingly the worst-off part of the bypass (the part that had collapsed due to illegal development about three years ago) just opposite the access to Tal-Fjuri has not even been touched yet. For those who might have forgotten this project started in May of last year with the pledge of finishing by next month.
