Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo pulled off a rare double last night when he was named both PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year.

The Portuguese winger is only the second man in the history of the players' awards to take both titles after Andy Gray in 1977 when he was a striker with Aston Villa.

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba was second in the voting ahead of Ronaldo's team-mate, midfieler Paul Scholes.

In the Young Player award, Ronaldo, 22, held off Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas with winger Aaron Lennon of Tottenham Hotspur in third.

Ronaldo has been in outstanding form for leaders United and has 16 league goals to his credit this season.
