The Armed Forces detained 13 people over drugs during roadblocks set up along a number of main roads on Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

AFM personnel were seen stopping cars in at least two spots in Marsaxlokk and Attard.

In a statement yesterday morning, the AFM said the first regiment's C Special Duties Company had arrested 13 people of varying ages who were found in possession of substances suspected to be cocaine, cannabis resin and ecstasy tablets.

The AFM also arrested a man it said was carrying a shotgun and cartridges as well and the carcass of a protected bird. Three cases of unlicensed vehicles were also discovered.

The AFM said those arrested were handed over to the police for further investigation.
