Nationalist MEP, David Casa, who is also a member of the EU-Turkey joint parliamentary committee of the European Parliament, yesterday condemned the recent wave of killings in Turkey and said that these were not acceptable and could not be tolerated.
Three employees of Zirve publishing house, which mainly publishes Bibles in Arabic, were killed last week. They were bound and had their throats slit in the eastern Turkish city of Malatya.
"These killings show that Turkey is not providing the necessary security and protection to minorities," Mr Casa said.
The Nationalist MEP said that the wave of nationalist attacks has been on the rise in Turkey and more commitment needed to be shown in the implementation of the rule of law.
"Respect for human rights and the safety, security and protection of all Turkish people must be guaranteed if Turkey expects to join the EU," Mr Casa warned.
