Strings concert in Gozo

On Wednesday April 11 I had the pleasure to attend a concert of classical music by an orchestra made up of young talented artists. The event showed what can be achieved by well-prepared, hard-working musicians.

It was a praiseworthy initiative to invite the orchestra to visit Gozo and deliver the concert here. Gozitan music-loving audiences cherish such opportunities. In particular, string students residing in Gozo must have found it extremely instructive to attend.

I would, however, have strongly recommended to the concert organisers that they target young students of string instruments and encourage them to attend such events. The event could also have provided our younger string students with further encouragement.

I hope that we music lovers in Gozo put the furthering of musical studies on our island higher on our priority list. We owe it to the younger generation.
