• St George's parish centre and parish house is holding an open day Merhba Darna, with guided tours around the new buildings annexed to the basilica. There will be information about the illumination project for the basilica, food and books at bargain prices and a luncheon at noon. A concelebrated High Mass will be said in the basilica tomorrow at 7 p.m., with the participation of the La Stella Band.

• The Gozo Sailing Club is organising races, including three dinghy races, at Qbajjar Bay today between 2 and 4.30 p.m., sponsored by Zebbug council. Queries may be sent by post to Gozo Sailing Club, c/o 29, Nadur Heights, Our Lady of Fatima Street, Nadur, or visit www.gozosailingclub.gitd.net.

• Flushed Away is showing at Don Bosco Oratory, Victoria, today at 6 p.m.

• The Cathedral parish is holding a coffee morning at Crystal Palace, Marsalforn, on Tuesday. Transport leaves Savina Square, Victoria, at 8.45 a.m. Tickets may be obtained from Grace Debono, Menzia Farrugia or Coney Island Bar, Victoria.

• Nadur council, in collaboration with the Russian Cultural Centre, is organising a concert by the Boys Choir of the Vocal Lyceum (one of Russia's leading choirs) from Ekaterinburg, Siberia, at Nadur Basilica, on Thursday at 8 p.m. The council is also holding an art exhibition by Valentin Shachkov from St Petersburg at Joe Tabone Hall at the council's headquarters between May 5 and 10. Opening hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• The Cathedral parish and the Leone Band Club are organising a meal for friends at La Perla Restaurant, Hotel Calypso, Marsalforn, on Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets at Lm5.50 are obtainable from Thomas Schembri, Joe Tabone, Grace Debono, Coney Island Bar, and the parish centre.

• The Italian musical Apriti al vita is showing for the first time at Don Bosco Oratory, Victoria, on Saturday at 8 p.m. Parts of the film were shot in Gozo last June, in which several Gozitans took part. Entrance is free.

• The Friends of the Sick and the Elderly are holding a car boot sale in Marsalforn car park on Sunday from 8 a.m. onwards. The fee is Lm4 per car space. The car boot sale is open to all except for commercial establishments.

• The 44th congress of the Holy Name Society is being held at Ghajnsielem parish church. The highlight will be a concelebrated Mass led by Bishop Mario Grech on Sunday with the participation of the Lauretana choir, under the direction of Lelio Spiteri. A cortege, with the participation of the St Joseph Band, leaves Apparition Square at 5.30 p.m. A variety programme follows.

• Bishop Grech is leading a diocesan pilgrimage to the MUSEUM chapel in Blata l-Bajda on Tuesday, May 8, to mark the society's centenary and in preparation for the June 3 canonisation of the founder Dun Gorg Preca whose relics will be on display. Bishop Grech will lead a concelebrated Mass at 6.30 p.m. Those wishing to take part in the pilgrimage are to leave Mgarr, Gozo, on the 4 p.m. ferry. Tickets may be obtained from MUSEUM branches and parish offices.
