Spyker have brought forward the introduction of their revamped Formula One car to July from August, technical head Mike Gascoyne said yesterday.

"We're actually bringing it forward to Germany (on July 22)," he told the Spyker website (www.spykerf1.com).

The team had planned originally to race their heavily revised car for the first time at the Turkish Grand Prix in late August.

Gascoyne said it would be less of an update than envisaged, because Spyker had managed to introduce other improvements already and had more in the pipeline, but the car would still be a good step up.

"It's a new rear end, new gearbox, new radiator layout, new bodywork and so on," he said. "We already know that, aerodynamically, it will be a fairly major step and there will be a big improvement in the stability of the rear of the car.

"We're pretty confident that we'll make progress."

Silverstone-based Spyker, now using Ferrari engines, took over the Midland team last season. They have yet to score a point this season after three races.

Dutchman Christijan Albers and German rookie Adrian Sutil are their drivers.
