I do agree with Mario Borg (April 13) that the new regulations regarding bottle shops are not needed as there are laws which forbid selling alcohol to minors.

What Mr Borg does not see is that before the smoking ban, the bottle shops did not create any problems.

The "problem" of seeing more people drinking and smoking outside than inside started after the smoking ban. Since then bars and other outlets have been turned into bottle shops and they mushroomed in Paceville.

So first one law took away the customers of the bars and now another law is needed to take customers away from the bottle shops in the hope they will return to the bars. What law will be needed next, if this does not work either?
