Frans H. Said (Hunting And Tradition, April 7) does not accept my "history" on spring hunting because I am a hunter. I can live with that.
If it makes Mr Said happy, I will agree that the "nets" shown (on the map published with my previous letter) do not automatically indicate trapping" and will also state that these were volleyball nets set up by the Ottoman invaders to while away their free time. I will, further, declare that the pictorial Great Siege map is a fake; that Herr Matthias Zundt who published it never existed; and that the Great Siege of 1565 which it depicts never took place at all.
As far as I am concerned, this subject is now closed.
