A 27-year-old woman was yesterday put on probation for three years after she admitted to defrauding a man of over Lm1,000 by issuing cheques from her closed bank account.

Magistrate Anthony Vella heard Alexia Cross, of Naxxar, plead guilty to defrauding Joseph Micallef and to misappropriation between 2003 and 2006.

Police Inspector Maurice Curmi prosecuted.

Lawyer Roberto Montalto was defence counsel.
