Last Christmas, San Anton School students got an unusual present - the opening of a Warhammer club sponsored by the official miniatures importer Forbidden Power.
Wahammer Fantasy Battle and 40K are tabletop strategy games which involve collecting, painting and playing with highly detailed metal and plastic miniatures. The club meetings take place on Fridays with over 20 students and two teacher members on board.
This is another pioneering venture for San Anton School. Albert Scicluna, owner of Forbidden Power, donated posters, starter packs and painting kits to get the club going. Another sponsor was the Eclipse House Ltd. The two teachers behind this enterprising initiative, Titian Schembri and Marvic Tonna, set up the logistics, budget and anything else required in the administration of the club.
Club members may access the clubroom during break-time, but the main event occurs each week on a Friday after school. Students aged 13 to 15 have joined and get along together, even though during school they might frequent different groups.
Forbidden Power and San Anton School now plan to put their heads together and organise tournaments and painting competitions for San Anton students.
