British ghost-walker Malcolm Hanson has published his book The Do-It-Yourself Ghost Walk, a project that took off during a visit to the island in 2005.
The book, published by Agius and Agius and printed by PEG, guides the reader around Valletta, suggesting stops at various places where they can read about the ghost associated with the location.
The walk should last about 90 minutes and starts at Freedom Square. The visitor is taken down St Ursula Street, over Victoria Gate to look across at Fort St Angelo, to Lower Barrakka and back up to Archbishop Street, Republic Street, past St John's Co-Cathedral then up Merchants Street back to the Foreign Ministry.
Mr Hanson sourced many of his stories from books by local authors (The Ghosts of Malta by Joseph Attard and The Unexplained by Vanessa Macdonald) as well as from newspaper reports and interviews.
"To experience an evening (if you dare) of delicious, spine-tingling chills, all you need to do is arm yourself with this book and make your way to the starting point; take a deep breath and step off into the realms of the supernatural," he suggests.
Mr Hanson is also interested in offering tours along the walk - at night of course - and did so quite successfully last year. He will be returning to Malta later this year.
Mr Hanson has created four ghost walks in the UK and has written extensively about ghosts.
