The Malta Charities Association yesterday donated Lm7,500 to Komunità Santa Marija, the residential drug rehabilitation programme within Sedqa.
This is the second donation by the association, following last year's donation of Lm6,500 for the same cause - to enhance the physical environment of the residents undergoing rehabilitative treatment.
The Malta Charities Association is a UK-based charity set up 19 years ago to assist institutions in Malta that require charitable support, helping to provide better amenities for the elderly, sick, the terminally ill, children in need and persons with disabilities.
Komunità Santa Marija is a service for individuals with drug addiction problems. Its aim is to reintegrate them in society through an intensive, long-term residential programme.
People requiring help regarding problems related to alcohol abuse can be referred, refer themselves to these services or get more information by calling Helpline 151.
