The Privatisation Unit has issued a call for expressions of interest for the commercialisation of Enemalta's Petroleum Division.
The call was issued on behalf of the government and Enemalta Corporation.
The concession is for the management, operation, maintenance and development of Enemalta's Petroleum Division and the business activities undertaken by the Mediterranean Offshore Bunkering Company Limited.
A spokesman for the Government Investments Ministry said that whereas in privatisation the assets are passed on to the successful bidder, in commercialisation they remain government property.
Expressions of interest are to be made by reputable prospective investors experienced in the petroleum sector by June 6.
On March 20, the Cabinet accepted the adjudicating committee's recommendation on the commercialisation of Enemalta's Gas Division to consider the GASCO consortium as the preferred bidder.
Gasco consists of Multigas Ltd, a Maltese company, and Liquigas Spa of Italy, each having a 50 per cent shareholding.
