Yet another new theatre group, well new to us, theatrencore are on view in the St James theatre-in-the round this month.

When you think of it, theatrencore is rather a good name for a theatre company and it's quite surprising that nobody ever thought of it before. They will be presenting Shadows and Gods at the theatre-in-the-round at St James from April 27 to 29 at 8 p.m.

Shadows and Gods is the true story of the murderer Henri Pranzini and Saint Theresa of Lisieux. Henri Pranzini was a serial killer, executed after having killed his lover - the rich and famous Regine de Montille, her young daughter and Mlle de Montille's maid. Theresa, who at the time was 14 years old, decided to put God "to the test" and pray for his salvation.

In spite of the fact that the two never met, the lives of Therese and Pranzini overlap as she discovers the monster in herself on her journey to sainthood and he accepts the hero in himself on his journey to the guillotine.

The playwright Tyrone Grima will also direct a young cast with Mireille Mifsud in the role of Therese, with Keith Borg playing Henri Pranzini and Daniela Coppini as Regine de Montille.

Tickets may be obtained from the St James booking office.
