The Department of Local Councils is supposed to keep a register, for each and every local council, which indicates the assets that a particular local council enjoys in its jurisdiction.
The Zurrieq local council has felt the need to obtain a copy of this register, since it needs to verify that all its assets are appropriately enlisted therein.
One surely would not imagine what the department's reply was: This register must be bought by the local council for the hefty sum of Lm17.
So, in order to check a register containing a list of its own assets, the local council has to buy the register from the department. Can the situation be more ridiculous?
