Markus Rosenberg scored with a backheel to give Werder Bremen a 1-0 win at home to Nuremberg yesterday and take them back into second place in the Bundesliga, just two points behind leaders Schalke 04.

Werder, under pressure after Schalke, VfB Stuttgart and Bayern Munich all won on Saturday, were short of inspiration before Swedish striker Rosenberg managed to improvise a goal 15 minutes from time.

Also yesterday, Bayer Leverkusen's hopes of a place in the UEFA Cup were hit when they were beaten 4-1 at home to VfL Bochum.
