The first crossing of the Atlantic by a solar-powered catamaran has taken place. By May 8 it will have reached New York after a 7,000-mile journey from Basel.

Knowing that our Gozo ferries are first class fuel guzzlers, is it not the time to consider their conversion to solar power, which has been developed to a great efficiency where boats are concerned?

After all, we wallow in sunshine. Reduction of gas emissions is now a must. Costings make it more imperative.
