Easter in Serbia
Families Easter celebrations
I am from Serbia. My family and I have been living in Malta since 1999. I am Orthodox and my family and I celebrate Easter. This year it happens that the Orthodox and Catholic Easter will be on the same date.
For that day we will practise some traditional customs. My mother plans to prepare some special food and also she will buy presents for my sister and me.
The best thing is that for Easter my mum paints boiled eggs. She bought and brought, from Serbia, some special colours and also she can use the skin of an onion. She will do that on Easter Eve and for Easter lunch we will have a full basket of eggs in different colours.
Everyone of us will choose one egg and we will have a competition. We will try and crack the egg of our partner. We will do that between each other till we have a winner and the winner will receive a present.
I like Easter because it is a traditional family feast.
