The Malta Environment and Planning Authority has published an updated version of DC2005, called DC2007, which is a compendium of policy and design guidelines mostly for the use of architects and those connected to the construction industry.

The document brings together 136 policies under 17 different chapters. The main changes involve not only the inclusion of amendments to policies, but also two new sections.

In Section 16, DC2007 brings up to date policies in the light of the newly approved Local Plans.

Section 17 can mainly be considered as a transition clause relative to applications submitted prior to the approval of the Local Plans.

The subjects in DC2007 range from general principles on architectural design, policies regarding size and height limitation, internal development, urban improvement fund and penthouses.

DC2007 will come into effect on April 16. Copies of the document are on sale at Mepa and may be downloaded from the website www.mepa.org.mt
