Band goes back in time for CD

The Leone Philharmonic band of Victoria has launched a double CD of band music featuring 15 pieces composed by Giovanni Giumarra who directed the band between 1923 and 1933. Mro Giumarra travelled to Malta in 1907 and decided to settle on the island.

The Leone Philharmonic band of Victoria has launched a double CD of band music featuring 15 pieces composed by Giovanni Giumarra who directed the band between 1923 and 1933.

Mro Giumarra travelled to Malta in 1907 and decided to settle on the island. For four years he bound himself through a contract to dedicate himself entirely to the Leone Band.

During the validity of this contract, Mro Giumarra took up residence in Gozo. The contract was later renewed in 1928.
