I am not a fan of Tony Blair and never have been, but why, umpteenth hundred years later, should we say "sorry" for what our forefathers did? (Why Blair Has Disappointed Me, Reno Calleja, March 31). It was beyond our control. It wasn't only we who were involved in the slave trade but many other countries as well, including the nations that supplied them.
What next do we apologise for, Queen Bodica cracking a few skulls of Roman soldiers?
Talking of which, when is the Vatican going to say sorry for the Inquisition and looking the other way when Hitler was persecuting the Jews?
