Graeme Dott won his first title since his World Championship triumph by beating Jamie Cope in the final of the Honghe Industrial 2007 World Snooker China Open yesterday.
The 29-year-old from Larkhall beat Cope 9-5 at the Student Gymnasium in Beijing for the second ranking title of his career.
After weathering a fight-back from Cope, who pulled back from 6-2 down to 6-5, Dott collected a cheque for £35,000 and lifted the golden trophy.
It was the first tournament of a new five-year deal between World Snooker and the Chinese Billiards and Snooker Association and its promoter International Sports Limited.
Victory represents the prefect way for Dott to prepare for the defence of his World Snooker Championship title, which begins on April 21.
He will also take a handy lead of 1,975 points over Ken Doherty to Sheffield as he aims to take the official world No 1 ranking for the first time in his career.
