May I thank Emily Barbaro Sant (Disposal Of Waste, March 12) for bringing illegal dumping to our attention.

Secondly, I would also like to thank her on behalf of WasteServ for helping us in our continuous and tireless campaign to encourage the public to use the bring-in sites.

It is worth pointing out that the public responded enthusiastically to waste separation. The use of these facilities last year increased by more than 50 per cent. These figures augur well for the future of waste separation in Malta and Gozo. WasteServ is committed to continue its work, so that more waste is recycled instead of being disposed of at the landfill.

WasteServ will continue with its ongoing information campaign while also ensuring that legal action is taken against persons who abuse these facilities.
