Ballroom dancers' great service
After returning from our stay in Malta we felt that we had to write to make the reader aware of the asset Malta has in Espedito and Connie Spiteri, Dance Hosts at Palm Court Hotel, Qawra.
We had heard of Mr and Mrs Spiteri from friends in England and we were delighted when we first met them in person as they helped to make our stay unforgettable.
Mr and Mrs Spiteri manage the Roof Lounge Bar in the Palm Court Hotel, their dance nights are always popular and you have to be there early to get a seat! Their dancing is of a professional standard and they "lead off" all of the latest sequence dances.
Since meeting Mr and Mrs Spiteri we have found out that they have given 40 years of their lives to ballroom dancing in Malta. They were the first Maltese dancers to represent Malta in the Professional British Championships held in Blackpool, England in 1979/80. They were also the first Maltese dancers to qualify as ballroom dance teachers in Malta. They are still dedicated to keeping up the standard of ballroom dancing and are always willing to share their vast wealth of knowledge and experience, which can be seen in the fantastic routines they teach.
In England ordinary men and women are recognised by the authorities for outstanding services to the community. If you have such an honour in Malta we feel that Mr and Mrs Spiteri should be recognised for their services to dancing in Malta. We would also like to thank all associated with Palm Court Hotel and Malta Bargains for giving us an affordable and happy stay in Malta.
